Elections always have consequences. Here are some things across the nation that we can celebrate:
AND DEMS DID LOTS MORE……..
- Flipped state senates in Colorado, New Hampshire, Maine and New York.
- Flipped state houses in Minnesota, New Hampshire, Illinois, Maine, Kansas, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico and Wisconsin.
- Dems have complete control of 6 state governments and Reps lost control of 4 others.
- Flipped 3 dark red counties in Texas.
- Swept Harris County, Texas, 3rd largest in the US (Linda Hidalgo, a young Latina, is now the highest executive in Harris County).
- Sent Lucy McBath, mother of murdered Jordan Davis, 17, to House in Newt Gingrich’s old seat.
- Dem Andy Kim replaced Rep New Jersey House member called “architect of Obamacare Repeal.”
- Sent first African American women from Massachusetts & Connecticut to Congress.
- Elected Jared Polis, first gay, Jewish governor of Colorado.
- Elected first Latina, Michelle Graham, governor of New Mexico.
- Elected Letitia James, New York’s first African American Attorney General
- Passed Progressive ballot issues:
- Expand MEDICAID – Idaho, Utah and Nebraska.
- Same Day Voter Registration – Maryland
- Maryland’s Elijah Cummings will chair House Oversight Committee (following the money).
