The Chestertown Farmers’ Market has a new booth — operated by the Chestertown Environmental Committee (CEC). In addition to promoting the SNAP (formerly food stamps) program in the market, they are now collecting a number of items for recycling which have been very difficult to recycle in the past: single-use batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and bottle caps. Stop by their booth (intersection of Cross and HIgh Sts.), drop off your recycling, and speak with Jon Hanley or another member of the group to learn about the CEC and how you can get involved — volunteers needed!
DCKC is supporting the CEC’s new “Caps to Benches” program with our own collection can at our booth at HQ (357 High St.) on Saturday mornings – please start saving those pesky bottle caps (made of #2, #4 or #5 plastic) and bring them to us when we’re open.
