Kennedy-King Dinner
Over 60 Democrats gathered on October 26 for the 2023 Kennedy-King Dinner. Guests included Kent County elected officials, state and county Democratic party representatives, members of the Democratic Club, and student representatives from Washington College.
Maryland Senator Ben Cardin was the keynote speaker. He was inspiring as usual, talking about a range of subjects from dysfunction in D.C. to the Israel-Palestine war. The Central Committee awarded Sen. Cardin the first William Pickrum Public Service Award, for his 58 years of public service.
This year’s Martha Holland Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Sandy Bjork, in recognition of her many years of selfless work for Democratic causes in Kent County (including this dinner!).
The dinner was sponsored by the Kent County Democratic Central Committee and was hosted at the Chester River Yacht and Country Club. Phil Dutton provided music for the VIP reception.
Dems Volunteers Write 250 Postcards!
For the past three months, Dems volunteers have been writing postcards to Democratic voters in Virginia, urging them to vote. The Virginia legislative election is on November 7, and this is a crucial election that will determine control of both chambers.
On October 27, we hosted a postcard stamping party at HQ and then took the postcards to the post office.
Fingers crossed for a good outcome in Virginia! We’ll update you when we know the election results.
