Democratic Women Needed to Run for Office
Have you ever looked at our Kent County commissioners or District 36 state representatives and thought, “I could do a better job than that!” Or maybe you’d like to start out your political career by running for school board or the Democratic Central Committee.
If you’re tempted to run but are afraid you don’t have the knowledge, money, or contacts to be successful, there’s help!
Emerge Maryland is a 5-month, in-depth training program for Democratic women that inspires candidates to run and gives them the tools to win. You’ll learn campaign strategy, fundraising, public speaking, media, networking, and more.
There’s a class starting soon, so check out their website and put in your application. Yes, there’s tuition, but half of it is raised as a fundraising exercise!

Dems Booth in Rock Hall on July 4
Join us at our Dems Club booth for Rock Hall’s July 4 Celebration — we’ll have fans, flags, buttons, and much more, and we’re continuing our gun lock giveaway safety program there! Come and write a note or two to support democracy in Ohio while you’re there. We’ll be there from 9 am to 3 pm — see you there!

Pride Month Meeting
June’s Democratic Club Meeting was a great success!
We were fortunate to have dynamic speaker Cassie Miller, transgender activist, present “The Personal is (Still) Political: Understanding LGBTQ+ Identities and Challenges.”
Cassie’s presentation was lively and informative. We learned about her personal experiences and LGBTQ+ issues and, importantly, how we can support the LGBTQ+ community. Did you know that doing something as simple as checking out a library book — particularly one that has been banned in other places — shows support by increasing circulation? What could be easier?
We thank Cassie for traveling across the bridge to talk with us about these important topics.
