That Famous Dem Booth… Kent County’s renowned Democratic Club Booth enters its 11th season of service on Saturday, April 13, 2019.
What do we do? We share facts with lots of people. Our goal is to provide them what they need to make solid decisions. Buying a new car or another pricey investment? We do more than ask around, talk to people at work, listen to rumors or check our dealers’ rep. and personality. We look at what’s on offer, research on-line, find the best price and talk to people who own one. From April to November, that’s what the Booth does. We provide sound information on local, state and national issues, candidate positions, and answer your questions.
We are famous nationally for our locally made and designed buttons which reflect causes and principles we believe in, are sometimes just funny and often make political points. Want to dig deeper, we have handouts, brochures, lists of upcoming events and dedicated Booth Dems, who just want to talk about things. Election materials, we’ll have lots in 2020. Want to register to vote? We do that too.
Supporting that Famous Booth
The qualifications are easy: registered Dem., like people, aren’t shy about talking to strangers about what’s happening in the town, county, state or around the world. Listening skills are really helpful.
Two groups manage the Booth:
- The Dawn Patrol: They rise early, collect the tent and all other Booth materials and drive or walk to Fountain Park, where they set it all up and adjourn to Evergrain for coffee.
- The Booth Masters: They staff the Booth for 2 shifts: 8-10AM or 10AM-Noon. They are the outreach arm of the operation; meet and greet, chat, sell buttons, hand out material and enjoy themselves.
