How We Win!
Dozens of Democrats from the Upper Shore and beyond spent the morning last Saturday learning how to win elections in red rural areas such as ours.
“How We Win,” the Spring 2024 Eastern Shore Democratic Summit, was organized by the Eastern Shore Democrats PAC and hosted at Washington College.
The course material was designed for candidates as well as anyone interested in helping Democrats get elected.
Our instructors were experts, experienced organizers, candidates, and elected officials.
We learned tips on:
- How to shape and spread our message effectively
- How to recruit candidates to run in local races
- How to enlist and harness the energy of volunteers
- How to use data to reach voters efficiently
We learned what candidates have done that worked and what more they would do next time.
And we had fun soaking up the energy generated by being with and talking with a crowd of like-minded people. The mood was upbeat and hopeful for the future. Very inspiring.
Thanks to the organizers and to our own Barbara Brown for working hard to give us the tools we Democrats need to win.
Other Kent County Democrats participated as presenters and trainers: Sherise Kennard, Kent County Clerk of Courts; John Carroll, Mayor of Galena; Tom Herz, Chestertown Council Member; Kurt Douglass, Kent County Democratic Central Committee Member. Heather Mizeur gave the keynote speech.
Washington College student Joey Bonacci, WAC Democratic Club president, acted as moderator, and Emily Iampieri, vice president, timed the speakers. They had support from KCDC treasurer Bill Herb.
