It’s important that we all know which candidates are Democrats in the School Board election because our ballot will not tell us that information.
The election is “non-partisan,” so candidates are not identified by their party.
Our Democratic candidates:
Aretha L. Dorsey
Piers Heriz-Smith
Nivek M. Johnson
Charles E. Welsh
Our Democratic candidates stand for the ideals of the Democratic Club of Kent County and the Democratic Party:
- They believe our public schools should provide the same opportunities for all children.
- They believe our schools should be adequately funded so they can provide a quality education for all students.
- They won’t wage culture wars in our schools.
- They will protect our schools and children against far-right efforts to ban books, restrict LGBTQ+ student civil liberties, and strip our schools of public health protections like we saw during covid-19.
In the July 19 primary election, we will be asked to vote for three School Board candidates. There are eight candidates up for election. Please consider voting for our Democrats.
