Martha Holland Democratic Volunteer of the Year Award

The Martha Holland Democratic Volunteer of the Year Award is given annually by the Kent County Democratic Central Committee at the Kennedy-King Dinner.

This year, the award honors the most outstanding volunteer whose activities have substantially benefited the Democratic Party in Kent County in 2025. A plaque will be presented to the honoree at the Dinner and that person’s name will be added to the permanent plaque in the Democratic Headquarters. 

General Criteria:

1. No paid staff or any member of the Central Committee will be eligible.
2. The volunteer will have contributed efforts to benefit the entire Democratic Party in Kent County.
3. Candidates may be affiliated with either the Democratic Club, a political campaign, and/or a policy campaign.

Selection Method:

1. Two months prior to the date of the presentation, the Central Committee and the Democratic Club will solicit names of candidates from the Club’s membership and from members of the Central Committee.  For each candidate, a Nomination Application should be submitted describing that person’s contributions made during the preceding year.  A form is available to download below.
2. The Central Committee will establish a Nominations Committee to be composed of 2 members of the Central Committee and a Club representative selected by the Executive Committee of the Democratic Club of Kent County. This Committee will review all applications and submit a list of the top 3 candidates to the Central Committee. At the time of this submission, all applications must accompany the list of those recommended.
3. The Central Committee will vote (by majority with quorum present) to determine the recipient of the Holland Award.
