To start things off, here is one from Andy Scott, of the DCKC Executive Committee. Thanks Andy!
Let’s Talk About Money
Most of us abhor the role of money, especially big money, in politics. There is hope that if we can elect Joe Biden in the fall that something can be done about that. Biden favors the elimination of “dark money” and he endorses public financing of elections. Trump is actively working to reduce even the very minimal rules now in place to restrict private donations. And he categorically opposes public financing. Their positions could not be more different.
The reality is that we live in the world we have today and success in this year’s election will require large amounts of money. This has been exacerbated by the pandemic that will require much of the campaign to be conducted on digital platforms that require expensive staff and media access. The Trump campaign has been raising money and gearing up for this for over a year. The Biden campaign is playing catch up – – and we must catch up.
As a registered Democrat, you will likely be asked to donate to the Biden campaign at some point. Perhaps you have already done so. Small donations by a lot of voters can really add up. Please consider donating in whatever amount you can. Our election and the future of our country hang in the balance.
