Harris to appear in QA County
Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) will host a brick-and-mortar town hall meeting in Queen Anne’s County on Wednesday, March 20th. All residents of Maryland’s First District are welcome to attend the town hall to ask questions and voice their concerns about issues under consideration in Congress.

Legislative Action
The Maryland General Assembly is in the final weeks of its 2019 session, and a lot of important bills are still awaiting final action. Contact your representative to let them know your views on these bills:
Save Our Hospital!: SB 1018 (Finance Committee), introduced by Senator Hershey, would create a pilot program for rural health-care delivery that could greatly enhance our local hospital’s chances of surviving into the future. Several related bills are being heard the next day — buses are running in from Chestertown both days.
School Funding: HB 141 (Ways & Means Committee) and SB 1030 (Education, Health & Environmental Affairs Committee) would begin implementing the “Kirwan Commission” recommendations for better and more equitable state funding of MD public school systems, including Kent County.
Voting Rights. HB 252 passed in the House and is now before the Senate (EHEA Committee) — it will improve access to voting for incarcerated individuals who have not been convicted of a felony.
Ready to Read. SB 734 will improve school system procedures for identifying and intervening early for children showing signs of reading problems — early intervention is much more effective! The bill has passed out of committee and is now on the Senate floor — contact Sen. Hershey to support this important bill for our children.
