This past week has put another spotlight on the president’s stated priorities. He pardoned Joe Arpaio, who was convicted of defying a court order to stop detaining suspected undocumented immigrants and he signed a presidential memo instructing the Defense Department to stop accepting transgender people who want to enlist in the military. He did both on Friday, August 25 as an historic hurricane approached Texas. He tweeted: “Good luck” to the residents.
We cannot wait for Mueller’s team to “save us”; Trump can do a lot of harm in the meantime. We must persist.
Keep calling/emailing our senators and representative about repairing, not repealing (or diminishing), the ACA (that fight is NOT over); about your opposition to the Wall (Trump is threatening a government shut down if Congress doesn’t pay for it); about your thoughts and feelings about the endless war in Afghanistan (Trump owns that war now); about your support for House censure of Trump’s Charlottesville remarks.
As a backdrop, Texas is in the midst of catastrophic flooding due to Hurricane Harvey. Please consider donating to the charity of your choice.
