Save the date: Chestertown Ward Elections
If you live in Ward 2 or 4 (not sure? Check here), you’ll be electing a representative for town council this fall. The elections will be on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Put it in your calendar, and if you’ve moved recently, make sure to update your address with the Board of Elections.
From the town office:
“Forms and information regarding absentee ballots may be obtained by contacting the Town Office, 118 N. Cross Street at 410-778-0500. Absentee ballots must be requested in writing no later than 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2019 (Note: following the October 29th deadline, there is a process for emergency absentee ballots. For information contact Town Hall). The polling place will be at the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Department, 211 Maple Avenue. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.”

Event: Canvassing for Tom Herz, Ward 2 Candidate
Tom Herz, a candidate for town council for Ward 2, asked us to share that he will be holding a canvass on this week on Wed., Sept. 4. Volunteers should meet at the Dem’s HQ (357 High Street) at 6:30 p.m.
Event: Eastern Shore Environmental Legislative Summit

The Eastern Shore is ground zero for climate change in Maryland. It is here where we need to make a stand for ourselves and our children. Join the Earth Coalition, the Sierra Club and the Maryland Legislative Coalition for an afternoon of discovery about the issues that face the Shore (and the state), what steps have been taken, and what obstacles we must overcome to defeat the existential crisis of Climate Change and other pressing environmental issues. We will have speakers from environmental activist groups such as Sierra Club, the League of Conservation Voters, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Riverkeepers, as well as some of our state legislators who are prominent environmental activists such as Delegate Fraser-Hidalgo and Delegate Sein.
