Moms Demand Action for Gunsense in America is gearing up for Wear Orange weekend, June 2-4, and they need our help!
Orange is the defining color of the gun violence prevention movement. It honors the more than 120 people killed and the hundreds more wounded by gun violence every day.
In Chestertown, you can participate by wearing orange, and also by supporting these activities on Friday, June 2, 5-8 pm, sponsored by Moms Demand Action:
Volunteer to read aloud for 15 minutes: In Fountain Park, a proclamation designating June 2 as National Gun Violence Awareness Day will be read aloud. Both the Kent County Commissioners and Chestertown Town Council signed the proclamation. Volunteers will take 15-minute shifts reading aloud in front of the fountain, which will be lit with orange lights. Volunteer here: louise.miller1993@gmail.com
Purchase an orange float: Come to Stam’s Luncheonette, 215 High St., to purchase a refreshing orange float, visit an information table, and take part in activities. Proceeds will benefit Moms Demand Action, Upper Shore.
