I hope that most of you have seen our statement on allowing political groups into the Chestertown Farmers’ Market. We’re disappointed, but hopeful that a solution can be reached soon. We are taking the high road, and we can be patient while the town resolves this issue.
In the meantime, we’re doing fine at our present location just up the street, outside Dems HQ at 357 High St. Come and visit, or volunteer to help — we have a lot of great stuff! We now have a large supply of Biden yard signs, as well as bumper stickers, handouts, and as always a stellar array of great locally-made buttons (thanks, Jim Bogden!).
Last Saturday, we didn’t deploy the booth, but opened up the HQ office for anyone who might stop by. I wasn’t optimistic, given the weather. But we had an amazing morning! It started at a few minutes before 9 am when two girls came walking up from the Farmers’ Market as I was unlocking the office. They told me they wanted to make a donation, and placed a $5 bill into the donations jar. What a beautiful way to start the morning! They were followed by a steady stream of visitors until well after noon, making very generous donations and picking up a lot of our materials — we gave out over 70 yard signs that day!
