Important Information for Maryland Voters
Maryland voters have one of three ways to vote this Fall:
- Absentee (or “mail in”) ballot (no reason required)
- Early voting at the polls Monday, Oct. 26 thru Monday, Nov. 2
- Traditional Election Day voting Nov. 3
MAIL-IN VOTING: Your Vote Your Voice strongly encourages you to request a mail-in ballot. Unlike with the recent primary election, ballots will not be automatically sent to voters. To receive an absentee ballot, you must apply for a ballot. All registered Maryland voters should expect to receive a form in the mail shortly, to apply for an absentee ballot, unless already requested. Voters choose how to receive that ballot: by mail, fax, or download from the State’s website: https://elections.maryland.gov/voting/absentee.html. The deadline for applications is October 13. Completed ballots may be mailed back or deposited in a Ballot Drop Box, located at:
- Kent County Board of Elections, 135 Dixon Drive, Chestertown (Phone: 410-778-0038)
- Kent County Public Library, 408 High Street, Chestertown
- Queen Anne’s County Board of Elections, 110 Vincit Street, Centreville (Phone: 410-758-0832)
- Kent Island Fire Department, 1610 Main Street, Chester
VOTER REGISTRATION: The deadline to register to vote in the November election is October 13. Go to https://voterservices.elections.maryland.gov/OnlineVoterRegistration/InstructionsStep1 or call a Board of Elections office. You may also register at the polls. This website can also verify voter registration status. Information is also available at https://www.yourvoteyourvoicemd.org/
