The Chestertown Environmental Committee!
The Chestertown Environmental Committee Recycling Booth will be open on the second Saturday of each month this winter. Next date is March 9. Note: The booth will not open if inclement weather is forecast, such as heavy rain, snow, dangerous winds, etc.
They are currently collecting the following items for recycling:
- Plastic bottle caps – all colors including black, since these are hand-sorted by color.
- Alkaline batteries A, AA, AAA, C, D, 9-volt (no rechargeable or corroded batteries). For the safety of our volunteers, no corroded batteries.
- Lithium-ion batteries (button).
- All brands of electronic hair tools such as blow-dryers, curling irons, flat irons, electric brushers, etc.
- Makeup – lipstick, plastic eyeliner pencils, mascara tubes, face lotion jars, compacts.
- CFL – Spiral-shaped lightbulbs (no standard, fluorescent, halogen, or broken bulbs).
- Deodorant containers and lids.
- Empty toothpaste tubes and caps.
- Plastic floss containers.
- Plastic toothbrushes (no battery or rechargeable toothbrushes).
- Britta water filters (Britta brand only).
- Pickleballs.
- Bread clips.

Volunteer here:
Join our team and become a volunteer! We need volunteers to work at our booth at the Farmers Market each Saturday. We also need volunteers to drive the recyclables to Eco Plastic Products in Wilmington, Del., where they are turned into benches, picnic tables, bike racks, and other useful items.
