Help the Good Neighbor Fund!
This great program is currently in need of volunteers. Operated by the Chester Valley Ministers Association (CVMA), it provides direct financial support to people in need in our community, with one-time emergency expenses such as rent, utility bills, medical bills, and more. Volunteers are trained, and agree to serve for two hours (10 am to noon) on one or two Tuesdays per month — and you’re never alone — volunteers from both the Salvation Army and the Samaritan Group are at the table with you. The Good Neighbor Fund helps approximately 200 families per year, with grants averaging around $300 each. To volunteer and for more information, contact CVMA at chestervalleyministersassoc@gmail.com. Kent Attainable Housing, Inc. breaks the cycle of intergenerational poverty by making homeownership attainable for working families. KAH builds and rehabilitates affordable homes, strengthens families’ financial management skills, supports families throughout the home-buying process, and makes homes more affordable by investing a subsidy into their purchase price. KAH believes that expanding homeownership to families in need builds foundations for a healthier, happier, and stronger community.
